Journeys

14 Degrees | The home of Guinness World Distance Skateboarding Record Holder, Rob Thomson. His extensive site covers all of the solo journeying he has undertaken, the equipment he used, and has some fantastic media in the form of videos and pictures which will blow your mind. We salute you, Rob.

Boardfree | Dave Cornthwaite (who broke Jack Smith’s distance skating record) and the Boardfree team’s legacy. This website details the trips, sponsors, highs and lows of a supported and documented long distance skateboarding journey. Colourful images, and lots of useful information.

Boardfree Ireland | The blog for Alan Smyth’s wonderful solo trip from the bottom to the top of Ireland. A terrific gentleman and a great person to chat to. Totally down to earth and his posts are so nice to read. We love Alan!

Perimeter: North Sea Skate | The website designed and run by Skate Further’s own Laura Hatwell. This journey was a 550 mile solo unsupported trip from the top of Shetland, all around Orkney, down to the border with Berwick-Upon-Tweed. If you need any advice, girl skater specific or otherwise, she’s your man.

Long Treks On Skate Decks | Designed by Laura, promoting the awe-inspiring trip taken in 2009 by Paul Kent, Aaron Enevoldsen and one Adam Colton. These guys skated through Peru and Bolivia, taking in mountains, starvation, oxygen deprivation and salt flats…truly awesome. Go check it out!

Skate New Zealand | This event included Adam Colton and our own Nat Halliday as part of a four man team who over came the dire road surfaces in New Zealand to become the first gang to skateboard the length of the place. This blog is packed with pictures, info and funny stories from the original site.

Freedom Skate | Tomo Chisnall’s site. What can we say about this distance skating legend? Kind heart, kind soul, amazing legwork to skate the entire length of New Zealand, a few short years after Nat. Tomo’s words are like balm, and he will be ready to impart everything he’s learned in your direction.

Skatefurther Ben’s JOGLE | Ben Colchester-Hall, Skate Further team member and lycra evangelist, and blog owner. Check out information on his John O’Groats-Land’s End trip, and all of the things he’s been doing since. Lots of technical information here.

Octane Sports | Michael Stride at Octane Sports is a British slalom skateboarding stalwart, and his online shop sells many useful and wonderful things. He’s a pleasure to deal with and we recommend you check out his site.

Holey Trucks | Holey Trucks are sleek, stable and best of all, virtually indestructible. Ask Dave Cornthwaite and Rob Thomson! Designed by Gavin (of Surrey Skateboards) in the UK, these trucks are popular with distance skaters for all the qualities listed above. As well as the fact that Gavin is a really nice guy to chat to!

rollsrolls | The brainchild of Peter Sanftenberg, an aircraft engineer from Germany, these boards are built with carbon fiber, kevlar and aircraft foam. They’re serious pieces of kit, and they have revolutionised the distance skating world. Plus Pete has a heart too - he supports many distance skateboarding trips.

Longboard Larry | Home of the Pusher deck! Longboard Larry has been producing handmade, lovingly and lavishly decorated boards for a number of years now and along with Adam Colton has been responsible for bringing out some of the most popular boards of our time.

Rayne | Rayne produce quality boards from out of their factory in Canada. Most notable for the distance skaters is the Demonseed model, which a great number of Skate Further members have amongst their arsenal. Nice boards, that’s all we can say! They also sponsor Paul Kent, our Canadian push race pal!

Seismic | Dan Gesmer and his company Seismic have been responsible for some of the most popular wheel advances over the last few years. The Black Ops formula is a favourite of distance skaters. Seismic Speed Vent wheels are rapidly becoming the wheel of choice for the Skate Further bunch.
