On October 2nd, skaters from the Atlanta, Georgia galactic distance sector will be undertaking a 20 mile push in aid of Board Rescue, an awesome charity really worth supporting. There are plans to have a great selection of prizes, making the $10 entry fee more than worthwhile. Run by dedicated volunteers, this one looks t-riff! The Silver Comet trail is a ‘rails to trails’ that promises to be super smooth, and one day we hope very much to partake of its loveliness. All credit to the folks involved who are dedicating their time and energy to make this event as successful as last year’s (see photo above for the assembled crew!). Australia joins the Ultraskating movement, hopefully with French distance legend and overall ninja Romain Bessiere involved! They’ll be joining the Dutch, Americans and the stealth UK distance family Team Coles (come on Jo and Jack! Go BIG!) for 24 hours of distance skating fun. Much like our good friend Longboard Larry, who has spent the last two weeks upping sticks (Pusher 2 info imminent!) and moving his workshop to a new location, we are also on the move. Some of you have noticed a distinct lack of service from the site recently, and for that we can only apologise. Skate Further Co-Founder Sam Benson is on the case, and we shall soon be moving to  a happy, healthy new server which should see our site and your community go from strength to strength. Stick with us friends, we’re eating and sleeping this til it gets fixed.

Exciting news just in from Edmonton, Alberta… Long Treks pusher and current World Ultraskate Champion Paul Kent takes victory for the third year in a row at Canada’s most prestigiously gnarly push race. Backed up by Anna O’Neill (pictured), his wife Rachael’s sister, who won also won the ladies race for the third year in a row!  That looks like a sweet Rayne Killswitch there! Can anyone stop the Canadian Royal Push Family? Congratulations to everyone who took part, this race really makes the world sit up and notice push racing. Check out the site here!

This took us all by surprise here at Skate Further - someone actually wanting to put some money into a push event in the USA? Fantastic news! On November 6th in Hollywood, MIAMI - not LA as Laura got it proper confused with initially - plucky distance skaters will push/pump off from the start of this gruelling event across the Pond. A few Skate Further forum members have already pledged their interest by signing up, so we are looking forward to seeing where this goes.  This is a chance for folks across the Atlantic to get their times up on the offical marathon ‘list’ as held by James at Paved Wave. As well as Last weekend’s Goodwood in the UK, another push race was happening in NZ. In slightly different circumstances! This event was organised by Skatefurther’s own Nat. 19 skaters, 10km and the worst skating conditions ever.

However it also introduced us to another upcoming trip. Skateventure. Here’s Troy…

Hi my names Troy and I’ve been longboarding for a few years now and I love it; I skate every day, rain or shine (ceramic bearings are awesome!). I finish my University degree at the end of the year and I have decided to do something amazing in the first summer of my life as a free man; In January 2011 my mate Huw and I are longboarding across South East Asia, we begin our journey at the border of Thailand and Myanmar and 3200km and 60days later we will arrive in Singapore city. Some of these roads have never been skated before so it will be awesome being the first skaters to conquer Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in one journey. We expect to face many challenges on our trip - 35 degree heat, gruelling uphill climbs, long winding hills, dodgy roads, wild tigers, roadside food, monsoons…. we will enjoy every single challenge, bring it on.

I would like to thank Jim Peterssen and Rob Thompson (couldn’t agree more! - nat) for the advice they have given me. Jim managed to raise around $5000 on his journey for the Childhood Cancer Foundation in Sweden; I feel that is an awesome cause and I would like to do the same for the equivalent Charity in New Zealand, Canteen. My website will be updated shortly with a fund for Canteen and it will be awesome to see how much we can raise.
