Dutch Ultraskate

At the same time as the US Ultra was happening in Seattle, a bunch of Skatefurther forum members in the Netherlands decided to give an Ultraskate a go. The results were pretty amazing.

Jesse Beau, 325km (331km counting the 2 laps his GPS failed)
Paul Brunninkhuis, 290km
Arjan Koek, 270km
Jochem Boer, 255km
Edwin aka Wizzy, 202km
Joost GT, 201km

From our reckoning 4 out of 6 skaters made it into the Ultraskater.com top 10. Jesse becoming the newest member of the coveted 200 mile club! From the pics it looks like a good time was had by all, I’m sure we will get a full write up on the 24 hours in the forum soon.

On July 10th, Al Collins will be embarking on a skate mission in aid of Muscular Distrophy Ireland, leaving from Ireland’s most southern point Mizen Head, and heading North to the top, Malin Head. The 750-800km journey hopes to be completed in just 10 days.
You can keep up with Al’s journey on his blog, you can donate on his mycharity page and learn more about MD on the Muscular Distrophy Ireland webpage. Shiner Distribution (Bristol, UK) have supplied him with cult wheels, sabre trucks and a Lush drop through deck.

This video explains it a bit more.

You can view the route Al is taking here, go join him for a couple of days if you are around! Hit up the forum thread too to keep an eye on his progress.

Mark Chavez

In August of 2010, 19 year old Mark Chavez will begin a year long, 6000 mile, longboard trip from Bremerton, Washington, south to Los Angeles, California on highway 101. Then east to Jacksonville, Florida along Interstate 10, and continuing north following Interstate 95 to Augusta, Maine.

Pushing For Peace will be a year long journey devoted to spreading love, peace, and compassion throughout the US from city to city. Inspired by the John Lennon quote that, If everyone demanded peace, instead of a new TV, then their would be peace, Mark is going to take a year long material fast. He will only purchase the things necessary for the trip; food, water, and shelter, when he cannot obtain those things through donations from his supporters. Although there isn’t an official web page set up at this time, there is a facebook page that can be found. On this page you can show your support, read more about the trip, and find out about the trip route, if you would like to help out along the way.
