MrJim’s South East Asia Odyssey Begins!Posted by: skatefurther in Distance, Events, Forum Member
Tomorrow, at lord only knows what time GMT, Swedish distance skater Jim Petersson and his partner Maria will begin an exciting-looking 3000km trip from Chiang-Mai in the north of Thailand all the way down to Singapore. Jim’s been giving us the low-down on the trip in the forum, and wow - just wow. In true awesome distance spirit, they are raising funds for the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation. Hit up Jim’s website here! Looking the photo above, it’s clear there are tigers involved! With Jim on longboard, and Maria on inlines, they are entirely self-supported, carrying tiny packs, and we wish them the best of luck.

How We Skated Further In 2009.Posted by: skatefurther in Events, Forum Member, GatheringsThis is a compilation of all the best bits from the distance skating year that was 2009 in the UK. New friendships were forged, records broken, and best of all, fun was had all over the shop! Some amazing, stellar skaters are featured in this vid - and if this year was anything to go by, 2010 is going to be the greatest year on record for those who skate far.
In August of 2010, 19 year old Mark Chavez will begin a year long, 6000 mile, longboard trip from Bremerton, Washington, south to Los Angeles, California on highway 101. Then east to Jacksonville, Florida along Interstate 10, and continuing north following Interstate 95 to Augusta, Maine. Pushing For Peace will be a year long journey devoted to spreading love, peace, and compassion throughout the US from city to city. Inspired by the John Lennon quote that, If everyone demanded peace, instead of a new TV, then their would be peace, Mark is going to take a year long material fast. He will only purchase the things necessary for the trip; food, water, and shelter, when he cannot obtain those things through donations from his supporters. Although there isn’t an official web page set up at this time, there is a facebook page that can be found. On this page you can show your support, read more about the trip, and find out about the trip route, if you would like to help out along the way. |
