On October 2nd, skaters from the Atlanta, Georgia galactic distance sector will be undertaking a 20 mile push in aid of Board Rescue, an awesome charity really worth supporting. There are plans to have a great selection of prizes, making the $10 entry fee more than worthwhile. Run by dedicated volunteers, this one looks t-riff! The Silver Comet trail is a ‘rails to trails’ that promises to be super smooth, and one day we hope very much to partake of its loveliness. All credit to the folks involved who are dedicating their time and energy to make this event as successful as last year’s (see photo above for the assembled crew!). You can find out more over at the Longboard Atlanta Facebook page.

Australia joins the Ultraskating movement, hopefully with French distance legend and overall ninja Romain Bessiere involved! They’ll be joining the Dutch, Americans and the stealth UK distance family Team Coles (come on Jo and Jack! Go BIG!) for 24 hours of distance skating fun. If you fancy joining in, why not let us know about what you’re planning over on the forum? Follow the fun over at Paved Wave too!

Much like our good friend Longboard Larry, who has spent the last two weeks upping sticks (Pusher 2 info imminent!) and moving his workshop to a new location, we are also on the move. Some of you have noticed a distinct lack of service from the site recently, and for that we can only apologise. Skate Further Co-Founder Sam Benson is on the case, and we shall soon be moving to  a happy, healthy new server which should see our site and your community go from strength to strength. Stick with us friends, we’re eating and sleeping this til it gets fixed.

Thank you for your support, folks! If you’re having trouble, or feel lonely, come hit us up on Facebook in the meantime!

This took us all by surprise here at Skate Further - someone actually wanting to put some money into a push event in the USA? Fantastic news! On November 6th in Hollywood, MIAMI - not LA as Laura got it proper confused with initially - plucky distance skaters will push/pump off from the start of this gruelling event across the Pond. A few Skate Further forum members have already pledged their interest by signing up, so we are looking forward to seeing where this goes.  This is a chance for folks across the Atlantic to get their times up on the offical marathon ‘list’ as held by James at Paved Wave. Jealous…much? Hit up the website to find out more!

The 10th Annual Coast Longboarding Seawall Cruise took place on Saturday 7th August in a very soggy Vancouver, and boy was there a great turnout - props to all who turned out to take part. We’ve done it in the dry and its lahvley, but in the wet, man…

In what can only be described as an amazing day, members of the Skate Further forum and tonnes of new longboarding friends joined over 700 inliners and quad skaters to take Goodwood by storm. Every skateboard finished, everyone who took part did extremely well for themselves.

In a repeat of last year’s podiums, Matt Elver took the men’s top spot with a time of 1 hour 42 mins - another world record! Skate Further’s Laura managed to take 1st in the women’s race (30 seconds outside record time) despite looking a bit peaky for a few laps there, and Mr Tom Parker, of Wales, took himself a place on the Junior’s podium with a 2 hour 2 mins time - actually beating inliners! All in all a wonderful time, we are indebted to the organisers yet again, follow the post-event buzz on the forum here.

The 2010 Run For Zimbabwe project we mentioned a little while back has successfully been completed! After 15 days on the road the team finally finished their 700km Swedish journey from Kappelskär in the East to Varberg in the West. You can read about their last days on the Swedish roads here and there are pictures as well as videos of their journey too. Check them out!
This project, now in it’s second year, aims to to create awareness regarding the problems prevailing in Zimbabwe by longboarding through a different country every summer. Fancy funking up your Summer wardrobe? The official Run for Zimbabwe t-shirt is still on sale until the 10/08/10 with all proceedings going to the cause.

This is what 350 rolling competitors of all ages, shapes and sizes looked like, at the start of the Goodwood Roller Marathon in 2009. Please multiply this photo by TWO to imagine how the start of the 2010 event is going to look! That’s right, 700+ riders, and amongst them, 30 longboarders, mostly riding under Skate Further’s banner. See you there on the day (we’re going to be camped behind the fence above the banners to the right), follow all the build up on the forum here!

Look! It’s a ladies push race team! And that’s just the start of it! The Warrior’s Race, held on 23rd July this year, is a themed skateboard race through the heart of New York. Based around “The Warriors” film, it involves gangs of skaters racing from the Bronx to Coney Island, just like the characters in the film, completing tasks along the way.  11 teams completed the race, and hot dang, does it look like a pile of fun! Congrats to the winners, and all who took part - check out the Bustin blog here to read more!
